ZENDIA CONDUCTS SECOND INFECTOTEST® FEASIBILITY STUDY IN KYENJOJO, UGANDA

Together with Dr. Gerald Tumussime and his team in Uganda, Zendia GmbH goes back to the district of Kyenjojo to get clinical data on the real world sensitivity of InfectoTest® on a particular population: the asymptomatics. Asymptomatic individuals are people who carry a particular disease or infection but do not exhibit or experience yet any of the typical symptoms or signs associated it. Even though they don’t show symptoms, normally due to the low densities of parasites present, they still spread the disease to others. The most used malaria diagnostic tests such as RDT and microscopy are not reliable in detecting this low density infections.

Our goal is to screen 300 individuals in different villages in Kyenjojo who are potentially infected with malaria parasites but haven’t developed yet symptoms of the disease. Since these individuals have normally lower densities of parasites circulating in their blood, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the sensitivity of our test, InfectoTest®.

We are very excited to bring InfectoTest® to the field again!
